The Mercury Marseille Tarot
The Mercury Marseille Tarot is a hand-drawn love letter to one of Tarot’s oldest traditions. Over the span of seven years, the creator studied historic Marseille decks—identifying the quirks, imperfections, and subtle symbols that somehow survived centuries of reproduction. He wanted to preserve those details while making the Marseille tradition more welcoming to readers accustomed to modern Rider-Waite or Thoth-style decks.
Every one of the 78 cards was drawn by hand with markers and brush pen on archival cold-press watercolor paper. The illustration style was developed specifically for this project and is characterized by expressive lines, intentional imperfection, and an evocative color palette—all inspired by the character of early hand-printed Tarot de Marseille decks.
The result is a revived Marseille deck rooted in the tradition of fortune-telling—one that feels familiar, inviting, and perhaps a little more accessible to modern readers.
