Santa Muerte Tarot

The Santa Muerte Tarot by Italian artist Fabio Listrani translates the classic Waite-Smith structure into the imagery of the Mexican folk saint Santa Muerte and the Día de los Muertos. Skeletal figures populate all 78 cards throughout; fittingly, Arcanum XIII is named "Santa Muerte" rather than simply "Death" and forms the deck's centerpiece. Despite its morbid premise, the deck feels anything but grim: colorful flowers, celebrations, and dry humor run through many of the scenes. Listrani himself describes his approach to other cultures' religious and folk symbolism as "visual cultural nomadism."
