gold hand-painted Kickstarter silver witches

Strigarum Arcana is a 78-card Italian tarot, conceived, drawn and lettered entirely by hand. Every card began as a physical artwork on paper, made with ink, paint, calligraphy and gold and silver leaf. Ardo Quaranta worked on it for five years. All 78 originals are currently (Oct/Nov 2026) exhibited together at the Rocca di Gradara, one of Italy's best-known historic castles, under the title "L'Indomita Vertigine dell'Essere – The Untamed Vertigo of Being".

At its heart is the Witch, not as a folkloric figure but as a symbol of freedom and singularity: someone who searches for her own path, accepts doubt and transformation, and takes the risk of becoming fully herself. The card titles are in Latin, once the language of the witch trials, reclaimed here as a language of identity and power.

The physical deck was designed to stay true to the character of the originals: the cards measure 78 x 130 mm, are printed on rough natural paper (Arena Natural Rough, 300 gsm), have rounded corners and raised gold and silver spot finishing. Gold and silver are not decoration but part of the visual language. Made in Italy.
